Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how OpTempo (“OpTempo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you access or use the OpTempo mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

Overview

OpTempo is designed to support event-based ruck training. The Services collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide training features requested by users. OpTempo does not sell personal data, does not use personal data for advertising, and does not engage in behavioral profiling.

Sensitive data, including location and health information, is collected only when a user explicitly grants permission and only for functional purposes directly related to the operation of the app.

Information We Collect

Information collected by OpTempo depends on how the Services are used. Information you provide directly may include profile details such as body weight, default carried load, training goals, and user-created training events or notes. You may also provide information when contacting support or communicating with OpTempo.

When you log or track rucks, the Services collect training and activity data such as distance, duration, pace, event timing, and historical summaries. This information exists to support training continuity and your reference within the app.

Location data is collected only when required to provide live ruck tracking functionality. When you initiate a live ruck session and grant permission, the app uses GPS data to calculate distance, pace, elapsed time, and route progression. By default, location access is limited to “While Using the App.” Background location access is used only during an active, user-initiated ruck session when live tracking is enabled. OpTempo does not collect location data outside of these circumstances.

Health data integration is optional and requires explicit user consent. On iOS, OpTempo may integrate with Apple Health (HealthKit). When enabled, health data such as body weight, sleep summaries, and high-level activity context may be used to provide training and readiness context. Health data is not used to provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment and is not required for the core functionality of the app.

The Services may also collect limited technical information automatically, such as device type, operating system version, app version, and error logs. This information is used solely to maintain reliability, security, and performance and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

How Information Is Used

OpTempo uses collected information solely to operate and improve the Services. This includes providing training functionality you request, tracking and displaying training activity, generating summaries and insights, maintaining application stability, and responding to support requests.

Information is not used for advertising, marketing targeting, or user profiling.

What OpTempo Does Not Do

OpTempo does not sell personal data. OpTempo does not share personal data for advertising purposes. OpTempo does not use health data for marketing, promotional activities, or third-party profiling. OpTempo does not track users across unrelated applications or services.

Third-Party Services

OpTempo relies on a limited number of third-party service providers to operate the Services. These providers may include infrastructure and backend services such as Supabase for authentication, database, and storage, as well as platform-provided services such as Apple Health and device GPS APIs.

Third-party providers process data only as necessary to support OpTempo’s functionality and are contractually restricted from using data for their own independent purposes. OpTempo does not integrate advertising SDKs or social media tracking technologies.

Data Retention

OpTempo retains information only for as long as necessary to provide the Services or as required for legitimate operational purposes. Guest user data is stored locally on the device and remains until deleted by you or removed through normal app operation. Account-associated data is retained until you request deletion or close the account. Certain technical or security-related logs may be retained temporarily to ensure system integrity and reliability. When information is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymized in accordance with OpTempo’s retention practices.

Data Security

OpTempo implements reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures may include secure storage, access controls, and encryption where appropriate.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While OpTempo strives to protect user information, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

User Rights and Choices

You have control over how your information is used. Permissions for location and health data may be granted or revoked at any time through your device settings. Where applicable, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate information, or deletion of your account and associated data. Requests are processed in accordance with applicable law and OpTempo’s retention obligations.

Regional Privacy Rights

Depending on jurisdiction, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), or similar regulations. Where required, OpTempo will honor lawful requests related to access, deletion, or restriction of personal data processing.

Children’s Privacy

The Services are not intended for use by children under the age of 13, or under the minimum age required by applicable law. OpTempo does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

OpTempo may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, the “Last updated” date will be revised. If changes are material, OpTempo may provide additional notice through the app or website. Continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
